What does it mean to be a member?
Being a member means that you can vote at member meetings and the annual general meeting, have input on projects, join committees and even run for the board of directors. Being a member also means you are actively involved in the VEC and want to help it thrive! Memberships are annual and must be renewed every year.
What committees can I join?
The Accessibility Committee – Help increase and improve accessibility at the VEC!
Some projects outlined below, more ideas are welcome!
- Review our accessibility page, FAQ and transparency statement
- Offer feedback on available online and physical resources
- Identify accessibility projects, ex. Installing a stage lift
- Assist in building a removable ramp to our cafe area
- Host or coordinate fundraising events to support projects
- Volunteer as an usher during events to assist guests with limited mobility
- Collaborate with the gallery committee on an elevator mural

- Review information on our artist application page
- Help curate a monthly rotation of artwork at the VEC
- Respond to artist applications and add to a waitlist as needed
- Schedule artists to come in to hang up their work during office hours
- Assist in the safe installation of the artwork
- Keep track of deadlines and coordinate artist rotations
- Identify areas to infuse more artwork into the venue (decorations, plants, new window curtains, etc.)
- Host or coordinate daytime workshops from and for artists
How do I become a member?
To become a member, you must complete two steps.
Step 1: Be an active and ongoing participant in the VEC’s activities as a performer, producer, or volunteer in the last year OR pay annual membership dues (sliding scale $5-$50)
