TARANTIST – Victoria, BC
Tarantism is the compulsion to dance: being pulled in by an experience of excitement that can only be expressed through movement. A tarantist is a conduit for energy that drives us to move. From innovative art installations at Bass Coast, to engaging theatrical sound design & performances, to skill on the saxophone & behind the decks, Tarantist is a creative, through and through. Tarantist’s intitial inspirations in the rave scene focused on the melding of minimal UK production and West Coast Bass Music, a fusion that tends towards driving depth and darkness. Versatile in his musical selections, his sets range from drum & bass, to deep bass music, to techno, house and everything in between. More recently he has been exploring hard-to define, boundary-pushing 4×4 dance music as well. Tarantist seeks primarily to express his love of movement through high energy journeys, challenging audiences to lose themselves on the way. It’s not about blowing minds, it’s about shrinking heads.
